UT Athletics updates student entry policy after safety concerns

UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS ADMINISTRATORS SAY THEY’RE OPEN NEEDED.SYDNEY: STUDENTS HAVE DEALT WITH CHANGES AT THE STADIUM FOR THE LAST FEW YEARS. THE STUDENT SECTION HAS MOVED SEVERAL TIMES.IT WAS SPLIT BETWEEN THE NORTHEAST CORNER AND SOUTH ENDZONE.. BUT LAST YEAR IT WAS MOVED TO THE SOUTHEAST CORNER AND SOUTH END ZONE.THIS YEAR CONSTRUCTION ON THE SOUTH END ZONE IS FORCING STUDENTS TO THE NORTHEAST CORNER AGAIN.UT SAYS STUDENTS AREN’T ASSIGNED SEATS ANYMORE. INSTEAD ALL SEATS ARE GENERAL ADMISSION.IT OPERATES ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED BASIS. THEY SAY STUDENTS ADVOCATED FOR THE CHANGE TO HELP ENERGIZE THE STUDENT SECTION. SYDNEY:U-T HAS ALSO CHANGED SEVERAL POLICIES IN THE LAST FEW YEARS THAT HAVE AFFECTED FANS.IN 2015 – THE UNIVERSITY STARTED SELLING BEER AND WINE AT HOME GAMES.U-T SAYS THE MONEY FROM ALCOHOL SALES GOES INTO THE GENERAL ATHLETICS FUND.IT’S USED FOR SCHOLARSHIPS AND UNIVERSITY OPERATIONS. U-T ALSO IMPLEMENTED A “CLEAR BAG POLICY” IN 2017.IT’S MEANT TO IMPROVE SECURITY MEASURES AND SPEED UP ENTRY INTO THE
