haha I totally thought he said instead of a straw you can use puffy cheese( the snack food)! I was thinking to myself… well I guess it would push air through since they are really light. oh man!

No the thing to strive for is precisely those slightly out of tune notes. I maybe out of of my league here but hitting those 'correct' notes is not the point besides kindergarten stuff and it's a kind of 'trying to walk next to your shoes' kind of thing. What you want is those notes that are slightly off tune but hit the 'emotional content' or whatever you want to call it. Lets take this example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpTna3KRAuo Faith over Reason – Eyes Wide Smile. I'm not a professional singer by any strech the one 'credential' I have is church singing from early age to 20 and I can 'see' when a good singer is going of the 'usual' path so to speak. This david sylvian track is another fine example of 'singing next to the note' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBupS5PMMsc that's the thing to go for. Offcourse it needs some training to hit those notes but by going for the 'standard notes' you are making it yourself unnecesary difficult and at risk of missing the real thing. That's just my idea I'm not an expert in singing or vocal training it's just my conclusion from what I 'see' and a certain kind of logic.

I was wondering how comes that my singing and pitch accuracy got so much worse in the last month, even though I've been taking lessons for half a year, doing all the vocal exercises and trying really hard, my voice getting stronger and better… and suddenly it got so much worse and I was so desperate, ashamed to ask my teacher what's going on… and just when I stopped looking for the answer, you gave it to me! I hope the problem is what you're saying, that first it gets worse and then better, and I'll get back in shape soon. Thank you for your advice!

I notice a difference before I acquired my injury vs after… even my entire person has changed.😣 I have a question, when taking a breath, do I breathe through my nose or mouth? Thank you in advanced💙

Great lesson! I have a question. I have heard that I should sing "in the mask" for increasing resonnance, which I'm able to do, but to do so, I still have a bit of air coming out of my nose. Question: is rehearsing with a straw with the air only coming out of the mouth (straw) goes against that technique (singing in the mask), since I obviously need to block my nose to do that?

When you commented that you were trying to sing A5 (as opposed to A4), does that apply only to men? For my voice, as a woman, that's an A4. Or am I off-base here? Thank you.

This isn't really addressing the innate problem with singing along with a piano, that with every note you hit with tempered tuning it's going to be altered. In other words aiming for the center of the pitch doesn't really work because the center is moving. Most singers aren't really going to be bothered with that unless they have perfect pitch but it's still a problem. Not quite as easy as it sounds.
