2017 Mitsubishi Montero Sport GLX 2WD M/T – Full Review

It seems that these days the transmission of choice is the automatic But there are still those who prefer to row their own Be it a small sedan or a big SUV if there’s a clutch it’s their vehicle of choice That brings us neatly to the Montero Sport GLX We’ve become familiar with the look of
the Montero Sport since its launch last year And this GLX variant is no different It gets the same upswept headlights and the corporate grill Plus those chunky wheel arches give it a bolder more dynamic look As for the rear, well it’s still subject for debate But you have to give points to Mitsubishi for trying Inside, it’s much the same as its high respect counterparts Save for the fabric seats and the key to start the car However, it’s not totally bare
inside You get an infotainment system Along with Wi-Fi TV access, you even get
steering wheel audio controls A fully informative multi information display
and even cruise control Bare this car isn’t Like all pickup platform vehicles, the Montero Sport comes standard with third row seating Unfortunately, the second row doesn’t slide forward Meaning, this place is best for small adults like
me and children Under the hood of this Montero Sport GLX
is the same 2.4 liter MIVEC diesel seen in the GT It produces 184 horsepower and
430 Newton meters of torque And of course, it’s mated to a 6-speed manual With six gears to play with, the engine
is surprisingly well-match to this transmission And it tends to deliver its power around the middle of the rev band That means it’s a surprisingly ‘revvy’
diesel unit that gives you enough power to overtake If you’re curious about its handling, well it’s exactly what you expect from a truck based SUV Reflexes while far from agile, are decent. There’ a lot of body roll present but you have to remind yourself that this is an SUV of old-school construction. Which favors hauling over handling.
